A cyclone threatens Mauritius and La Reunion
After the authorities warned the residents of the Indian Ocean islands Mauritius and La Reunion (famous tourist destinations) of the danger posed by the arrival of the cyclone called "Garance" category three characterized by wind gusts of over two hundred kilometers per hour, the alert level would have been raised, especially for the island of La Reunion in French overseas territory. Airports and schools have been closed and the population is invited to stay indoors, many inhabitants have stockpiled food and reinforced their homes, fishermen have brought boats to port. It should be noted changing the subject but remaining on naturalistic issues that a conference was held in Rome to allocate resources for a nature protection project given that there would only be five years left to try to stem the continuous loss of biodiversity.

Measles cases in the United States and Canada
Health authorities report a decrease in measles vaccinations due to some epidemic outbreaks; in fact, this viral disease can also be very dangerous, especially in children under the age of five. This virus can easily spread through the air, causing cough, fever, reddish and pink spots on the skin, and can lead to respiratory and neurological complications, pneumonia, and brain damage. For children meningitis and encephalitis can cause health issues that last a lifetime, so it is undoubtedly healthy to vaccinate them with two doses, generally the first at twelve to fifteen months of age and the second before starting school, which helps protect the entire body. Ten days is the incubation period for the measles virus, and spots (rash) often appear on the face and mouth.

The so-called third pole in considerable suffering
After the Arctic and Antarctica, the largest volumes of ice would be found among the peaks of the Hindu Kush in the Himalayas and for this reason it can be considered a kind of third pole of the planet that extends for three thousand five hundred kilometers and eight countries, from Afghanistan to Myanmar; but climate change is causing an accelerated melting of the ice with warming about three times compared to global averages and therefore considerable suffering for the entire vast area affected and serious consequences on biodiversity as well as a decrease in water, energy and food resources. Given the situation, international organizations propose 2025 as the year for the preservation of glaciers, much depends on how intense warming will be in the coming decades with estimates generally not very comforting due to human lifestyles that are decidedly not very ecological.

Warning for avalanches and icy roads in Japan
Snowfall of unusual intensity in several cities in Japan has caused inconvenience and accidents, the authorities warn of the risk of avalanches, icy roads and that the pipes may freeze, particularly affected by snowfall according to forecasts the prefectures of Niigata, Ishikawa and Nagano, then maybe also in western regions such as in Hiroshima and Shimane prefectures. In the regions overlooking the Sea of Japan where a thick snow cover usually forms every year and there are many tourist facilities for the ski industry, but this time it seems that the heavy snowfall is causing problems. Shifting attention to Spain, the anomalous flowering of almond trees early (with bees foraging) while it is still winter with the danger of a possible drop in temperatures for the buds.

Influence of the fossil industry on teaching
The resources used for teaching in schools would be wholly or partially based on companies in industries that exploit fossil fuels, at least according to some researchers who point to the conflicts of interest of these companies being responsible for three-quarters of global greenhouse gas emissions. For decades it has been known about the strategies put in place to deny and minimize human-caused global warming, how to reduce the climate crisis that is causing extreme effects on the planet; so we should pay attention to how the funds for the training of students are disbursed and that the companies related to fossil fuels do not produce the material related to environmental science, then another relevant point concerns the impact on the teaching of artificial intelligence.

A new coronavirus under study
The new coronavirus discovered by researchers belonging to the merbecovirus subvariant has been called Hku5-Cov-2 and like the SARS-CoV-2 virus it exploits the same infection mechanism (the spike protein) to infect cells and therefore able to infect humans. It is potentially pandemic but it seems that it is less virulent than risky variants of SARS-CoV-2 even if it is necessary to maintain high attention and continue to monitor the situation. It should be noted changing the subject but remaining on health issues that Canada would have purchased five hundred thousand doses of vaccines to protect the people most at risk from avian flu in the event of exposure and even indirect contact with infected animals such as saliva, mucus and feces; then there are cases in the United States in which humans have infected domestic cats with avian flu.

Some timid initiatives against PFAS
Perfluoroalkyl (PFAS) are very persistent pollutants whose molecule is almost indestructible and tends to accumulate in the body, a danger for every living organism; so they try to regulate their use and it seems that France has decided to partially ban their use, but excluding from the law the famous pans that are usually used as an example of how PFAS can be ingested with food especially if the pans are striped (in this case they should be thrown away). Another area that would require urgent regulation is that relating to plastic pollution after the discovery that microplastic particles tend to accumulate in greater concentration in the brain than in other organs, decisive action should be taken in cases where plastic residues can reach rivers and streams.

Recovered an old artificial intelligence code
In 1960 a simple program (Eliza) was considered as the first code written for artificial intelligence, a chatbot that allows you to communicate with the computer. Now by simulating the computer architecture of the time it would have been possible to reactivate the old program (which in theory could be used for example for psychotherapy), but now chatbots use huge databases to formulate answers so it is difficult to make a comparison between this programs, then it is frightening to see how high the percentage of growth of current generative artificial intelligence is. According to experts it is essential that man manages to maintain control over this questionable technology, otherwise there is a serious risk that generative artificial intelligence will try to eliminate humanity as happens in certain films of a few decades ago.

Heat wave in Brazil
With temperatures between forty and forty-four degrees Celsius recorded in areas of Brazil there is talk of a suffocating heat and many people in Rio de Janeiro have had heat strokes and illness, the beaches are crowded to find some relief even if it seems that you have to go in the evening hours because during the day the beating sun is always unpleasant, then refrigerated centers and points where you can rehydrate were opened. A samba school event on Copacabana beach was cancelled due to excessive heat. It should be noted that Japan would be willing to cut greenhouse gas emissions by sixty percent over the next decade compared to 2013 levels, the country very dependent on fossil fuels is the fifth largest global polluter after China, United States, India and Russia.

Prolonged seismic swarm at the Campi Flegrei
Many people spent the night sleeping in reception facilities, in equipped gyms and above all in the car due to the prolonged seismic swarm due to bradyseism with earthquakes that had reached magnitude 3.9, now there is talk of magnitude 2.0 tremors with falling cornices and plaster which, however, frighten the population so much that there is talk of a situation similar to that of over forty years ago with many inhabitants who decided to leave Pozzuoli to go to more stable locations. Experts say that in theory earthquakes of magnitude 5 could also occur since the volcanic caldera of the Campi Flegrei shows signs of activity. It should be noted, shifting attention to Etna, that the lava flow of rather spectacular magmatic material has slowly descended until it reached nineteen hundred meters on the slopes of the volcano.
