More avian flu infections in the U.S.
The situation regarding the trend of avian flu infections in the United States is not very reassuring according to experts since from 2022 the H5N1 strain has infected chickens, cows and cats; then almost one hundred and sixty-seven million birds infected and seventy people while with spring is speak of migration season (for example to Canada). Recently infections of the H7N9 avian influenza strain have also been monitored in Mississippi, which adds other concerns; in fact, it causes a percentage of deaths higher than H5N1, it seems that almost forty percent of infected humans have lost their lives since this new strain of avian flu was discovered in 2013, so in this case the infected birds were promptly killed. Some say that the H5N1 strain is only missing a genetic step for a potential possible pandemic.
