Eco-friendly and economical sailing

An eighteen-day maiden transatlantic voyage from the port of Le Havre in France to Newark in the United States would have been carried out by a cargo ship propelled by sails and apparently the classic navigation with wind thrust and therefore free propulsion is of interest again which allows not to pollute and save on the purchase of hydrocarbons which, for example in the event of a shipwreck, can also become a serious environmental threat. In this case the eighty-one-metre-long thousand-tonne sailing cargo ship was initially propelled by engines before the two gigantic double sails could provide the appropriate thrust. It is estimated that almost three percent of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere (about one billion tons of carbon dioxide each year) are due to motor navigation.
