Measles outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo
Due to the lack of funds of the health system of the Democratic Republic of Congo and therefore poor vaccination coverage in addition to the malnutrition of the population that makes the immune system's immune system less effective it would be a measles outbreak that appears to have claimed more than six thousand lives in the country (three times those caused by Ebola). Vaccination in rural areas is quite rare, then it is also difficult for health personnel to reach vulnerable individuals in many areas of the country; so international organizations rate this measles epidemic as the worst in the world. Three hundred and ten thousand suspected cases of measles have been monitored since the beginning of 2019 and the authorities are trying to vaccinate more than eighteen million children under the age of five also as a form of prevention to avoid contracting other diseases.
