The invention of the telescope
Events in honor of Galileo Galilei (Pisa 1564 - Florence 1642) have highlighted how the scientist has helped to develop what would later become the telescope, making many careful observations and experiments on the magnification produced by lenses used in telescopes, that skilled Italian and the Netherlands craftsmen were able to obtain from long time and then aligned probably due to the studies of the Neapolitan Giambattista Della Porta (1535 -1615) literate - scientist and author of "The refractive optics" and inventor of the dark room in 1593. Previously despite the inevitable persecution was able in 1580 to build a parabolic mirror in Venice, then in 1610 was also accepted in the Academia of the Lincei. To remember then the "enlightening" work of the Jesuit Nicola Zucchi (Parma 1586 - Rome 1670) who made studies of optics that enabled the construction of the telescope.
