Prevention in rat-infested cities
Climate change could worsen the situation in cities already infested with rats, at least according to a study that showed the correlation between average temperatures and rat populations in these cities. Apparently these rodents like higher temperatures and this has already been monitored in eleven cities (such as New York, Washington, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Toronto..) known for difficulty in limiting the rat population; therefore prevention measures should be prepared to limit this unhealthy proliferation. Some say that for every rat that is seen to be there are probably ten more and it is appropriate to mobilize to avoid a possible "invasion" and consequent difficult disinfestation interventions, adopting preventive measures such as avoiding leaving food easily available to rats.
