Climate change and water scarcity
The availability of drinking water could be affected by global warming since the rainfall tend in some areas (such as the Mediterranean basin, and to a greater measure other parts of the world already classified as rather dry) to decrease and then the underground aquifers that are consist of rocks saturated with water takes much longer to recharge, considering that the population tends to increase and consequently billion people will face problems related to water scarcity. According to international organizations in addition to the physical scarcity of water resources, there are also the so-called economic scarcity in the sense as a lack of investment to make water accessible and available for millions of people as happens in Africa. Another parameter to consider is the salinity of the water to irrigate with the global increase in sea level.
