Artificial elements strongly radioactive
The news that near a Japanese atomic reactor were found traces of plutonium, although the authorities declared that are not dangerous for the health, arises the question as the point to which the research may drive extent, in fact, Plutonium is a highly radioactive element produced artificially in the laboratory by Seaborg and Segrč in 1939-41 by subjecting an isotope of uranium to the action of deuterons accelerated, and if this sort of metal particles are inhaled into the body and therefore tend to settle, and with potentially carcinogenic effect over the years. The cause of environmental contamination of the Japanese nuclear power reactors around the bowls is not clear and may have been caused by radioactive vapors condensed, however, the utmost vigilance was expected to escape a situation that perhaps is a bit out of control.
