Investigations into monkeypox cases
Following the reporting of cases of monkeypox in several countries such as Great Britain, Spain, Portugal and Italy, researchers try to understand how the infections of this virus defined as rather unusual occur. The symptoms are fever, itching on the skin with the formation of blisters and usually the pathology resolves favorably, but in Congo it comes to ten percent of deaths due to a more severe African strain; then there is talk of a West African strain with a low fatality percentage that would be the one recently monitored in Great Britain. In general it is the infected liquids that cause the contagion of the virus identified in monkeys in 1958 (hence the name) even if rodents would be among the main causes of transmission. It is unlikely that vast epidemics will occur as happened with Covid-19, but must still be very careful.
